Click 78-year-old female with rheumatoid arthritis and spontaneous talar and calcaneal fracture. Axial PD-T2 weighted TME: (TME sequence without contrast. Axial plane. 1,5 Tesla magnet, TR : 3440 msec, TE1 : 45 msec, TE2: 102 msec). Hypointense line in the subtalar region of the calacaneus (fracture) surrounded by bone oedema that appear as a slight hypointense area on PD weighted images and hyperintense on T2 weighted images. Talocalcaneal joint effusion in the postero-lateral remission (hyperintense on T2w images), tendinitis of the Achilles tendon and presence of loculated fluid in the flexor hallucis longus tendon sheath.

Click 78-year-old female with rheumatoid arthritis and spontaneous talar and calcaneal fracture. Sagittal T2 weighted FSE fat saturated: (FSE sequences without contrast. Sagittal plane. 1,5 Tesla magnet, TR: 4560 msec, TE: 75 msec). Hyperintense line in the lower-posterior talus compatible with trabecular bone injury; line of fracture in the upper-anterior calcaneus due to bone fracture, surrounded by a wide hyperintense area related to bone oedema more visible in the anterior and sub-talar portion of the calcaneus. Hyperintense area in the distal region of Achilles tendon compatible with tendinits. Slight joint effusion more visible in the posterior talocalcaneal remission.

Click 78-year-old female with rheumatoid arthritis and spontaneous talar and calcaneal fracture. Coronal T2 weighted FSE fat saturated: (FSE sequences without contrast. Coronal plane. 1,5 Tesla magnet, TR: 5140 msec, TE: 71 msec). Hyperintense line in the lower-posterior talus compatible with trabecular bone injury. Line of fracture in the upper-anterior calcaneus due to bone fracture with associated bone oedema more visible in the anterior and sub-talar portion of the calcaneus. Presence of small fluid collection in the flexor hallucis longus tendon sheath.

Click 78-year-old female with rheumatoid arthritis and spontaneous talar and calcaneal fracture. Coronal T1 weighted FSE: (FSE sequence without contrast. Coronal plane. 1,5 Tesla magnet, TR : 440 msec, TE : 12 msec). Hypointense line of fracture in the subtalar region of the calacaneus, surrounded by a less well-defined area of hypointensity due to bone marrow oedema and hyperaemia. Presence of irregular hypointense line in the posteroinferior part of the talus extending at the level of the talar neck, compatible with intramedullary bone fracture.

Sagittal plane. 1,5 Tesla magnet, TR: 640 msec, TE: 14 msec ). Irregular, hypointense line of fracture in the subtalar region of the calacaneus, surrounded by a less well-defined area of hypointensity due to bone marrow oedema and hyperaemia. Presence of irregular hypointense line in the posteroinferior part of the talus extending at the level of the talar neck, compatible with intramedullary bone fracture.
